The 26 Standard Shotokan Kata
I have recently started learning some karate and in the interest of learning, I have compiled videos of the 26 standard shotokan karate kata, courtesy of YouTube. From what I understand, these kata were established by the Japan Karate Association under Nakayama Sensei. More information on the art of kata can be found here. So, without further delay, here are the 26 “basic” (otherwise known as standard) shotokan kata:

Heian Sandan - Peaceful (3rd Step).
Heian Yondan - Peaceful (4th Step).
Heian Godan - Peaceful (5th Step).
Tekki Shodan - Iron Knight (1st Step).
Tekki Nidan - Iron Knight (2nd Step).
Tekki Sandan - Iron Knight (3rd Step).
Bassai Dai - To Remove an Obstruction (Large).
Bassai Sho - To Remove an Obstruction (Small).
Kanku Dai - Viewing the Sky (Large).

OTHER KATA
Taikyoku Shodan - Basic (1st Step).

And also, one of the first things I learned was the “27 Basic Moves”. I will add the video of the 27 basic moves as soon as I get my yellow belt!
If I am able to, I wil videotape my katas and post them on YouTube (and here!) for everybody to see!
